Bridging Season- Colour and Style trends 2017

The bridging seasons are my favourite. Be it the vibrant Spring or the understated Autumn, this is the time of the year when I feel the most fashionable.

Not the sweltering heat of the summer, nor the need to layer up in the cold, Spring and autumn always remind me of that one really well dressed relative who had her own style and fashion parameters, yet was the most memorable in a party.

For me spring always represented the warm yellows, deep reds, vibrant greens and definitely the bright blues and white. Moving to the southern hemisphere meant not only Santa in shorts but also Autumn in April. Not that I am complaining, in fact it is for the best. I get to wear my spring colours in Autumn and be really happy about it.

So what are we waiting for? Those in the northern end of earth, raring to let go off their jackets/ layers and welcome the warm weather around the corner and my southern counterparts wanting to suit up here are a few looks that can help you zing your way , irrespective of the seasonal favourites.

Autumn: Detail it is this season , with oodles of lace, ruffles, leather, metallic and all the trappings. Tassels, soft prints, mandarin collar, mules would be the high points of the season. If you are keen to experiment, shiny leather or velvet can come in handy. Velvet beret would be the way to go, combining the vintage fabric and hat trend.

SRelaxed Spring Elegant Autumnpring: Relaxed athletic is one of the trends in SS 2017. Try an elastic ankle denim with cork flatforms (yes, they have made an appearance) with cowboy styled straw/palm hats and cat eyed metallic eyewear.

Pair both looks with a metallic handbag/ tote which would add enough bling to the entire look.

Dress: Prada, Mules: Steve Madden; Bag: River Island  Cat eye classic rose gold sunglasses. Throw in a Larry Mahan cowboy styled straw hat to get the relaxed spring look with a vintage twist.

Classic styles seldom go out of fashion and always come in handy especially if you are in to sustainable fashion. Try this look if you have a favourite few pieces and want to have your own style, while sticking to the season highlights.

Chic and ClassicAutumn Chic look: Pair a sage green dress with a blush coloured bag and heels, paired with a red and grey plaid scarf. For extra oomph throw in copper earrings and a copper/rose gold bracelet and add a gunmetal grey coat to keep the chill away and complete the look.

Spring Fresh look: Pair a sage green dress with a dull red/ deep coral crochet shrug, a light printed scarf for those windy days and a pair of rose gold sandals. To accessorize add feather earrings, a gold broad clip  and a tassel sling bag.
